ASIAN SHARES RECOVER AFTER BERNANKE RE ASSURES, ITALY WEIGHS
Asian shares rebounded on Wednesday as U.S. equities rose on solid data and the Federal Reserve's affirmation of its commitment to monetary stimulus, but investors remained wary of political gridlock in Italy reigniting the euro zone financial crisis.
The MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.5 percent after shedding 1.2 percent to a seven-week low the previous session, led by a 0.6 percent rise in Australian shares.
Japan's Nikkei stock average fell 0.8 percent, extending losses from the previous day's 2.3 percent tumble as the yen firmed and hurt exporters. Seoul shares open up 0.45 percent.
